MTG Non colour spells?

A bit of clearification please. So, when I have a soot imp (if a non black spell is played, players loses 1 health) out, and an oppenent plays an artifact or morphed creature, since they are non black, the opponent loses 1 life for playing them, right? Also, the effect of soot imps stack right?
