Why am I not meeting successful Doors' fans?

I'm 35 now, and I've been listening to the Doors now for almost twenty years. Still enjoy them, but I've been wondering, why is it that most of the people my age and older who absolutely love the Doors and know everything about them are the types I see coming out of blood plasma clinics, dumpster diving, working night shift at 7-11, living at home with Mom and Dad in the basement, talking to trees in the park, punctuating every sentence with "man," wearing the same clothes every single day. Now some would say that I am generalizing, but I am only talking about the older hard-core fans that I see all the time in Arizona, not the people who listened to the Doors when they were young and can still enjoy a song or two on the radio, I am talking about older people who live for The Doors, why are there so many success-challenged individuals within this group?
